An opportunity presents for an experienced HR Manager to join us in our Sydney office to provide leading edge HR support to a diverse group of legal practices and shared service teams.

Reporting directly to the General Manager – HR your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Aligning people practices to practice group strategic business plans;
  • Coaching, supporting and influencing diverse leaders to develop their people management and leadership capability;
  • Leading and managing end to end HR operations and employee lifecycle processes with specific responsibilities across recruitment and selection, graduate lawyer programs, succession / workforce planning, performance appraisals, promotions and career progression processes, remuneration review processes, employee departure and termination processes);
  • Managing performance management, employee disciplinary and employment relations matters in alignment with firm policy and relevant industrial instruments;
  • Advising on HR policies, industrial relations legislation, EBA and general employee matters;
  • Implementing national HR initiatives and projects which will include learning and development and employee wellbeing activities;
  • Leading and managing a HR Coordinator and part time HR Administrator;
The successful applicant will:
  • Be degree qualified in HR or a related area – professional membership and recognition within the Australian Human Resources Institute (AHRI) is desirable;
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar or related HR role ideally within a professional services, matrix organisation structure;
  • Demonstrate a track record of performing the role of trusted HR advisor to diverse stakeholders;
  • Have well developed communication and interpersonal skills that enable the development of effective relationships with diverse stakeholders which is critical to this role;
  • Possess a strong knowledge of IR/ER legislation;
  • Demonstrate a logical and calm approach to problem solving situations under pressure;
  • Demonstrate an ability to influence and negotiate across a broad spectrum of stakeholders;
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of Maurice Blackburn firm values.
