HR Manager

Located in inner suburbs of South Yarra, the position of HR Manager will give the successful candidate the opportunity to work closely with the business and its leaders in developing and delivering best practice HR. 

The HR Manager reports directly to the CEO and will oversee and manage all facets of the HR function, enabling maximisation of productivity by optimising the effectiveness of HR team members and business.

Responsibilities for the role include;
  • Provide day to day guidance on all HR related matters including performance management, employee relations, team effectiveness, productivity, morale, staff development, workforce planning, remuneration framework, leadership and management development.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment-related legislation by accessing regular updates for both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Ensure any unfair dismissal/general protections/grievances are managed in a timely and cost-effective manner, providing representation to governing bodies as required.
  • Provide advice to line managers as it relates to legislative/Award/Agreement interpretation.
  • Ensure the Company has appropriate policies, training and investigation procedures in place to address discrimination and equal opportunity in the workplace, in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Maintain current knowledge of WH&S/OSH legislation, (Acts, Regulations, and Compliance Codes etc.) by accessing regular updates, attending WH&S forums and networking with peers, for both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Work closely with managers and employees to improve work relationships, celebrate & build morale, foster reward and recognition activities, increase engagement and ensure retention.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to create career development plans and pathways for support employee growth.
  • Lead and/or participate in all aspects of talent management with people leaders. Manage employee engagement and retention initiatives. Ensure creative and effective methods of sourcing are applied when recruiting.
  • Ensure an effective online learning management system (LMS) is in place, providing a simple and effective means of communication for a multi-site business, with a diverse team spread and turnover.
  • Conduct coaching on various topics such as communications, performance management, employee relations, career growth, new management orientation and team performance.
  • Recruit, manage, coach and develop the members of the Human Resources Team.
To be considered for the role you will need;
  • Bachelor Degree in Human Resources or similar
  • Demonstrated experience within an HR Manager position, preferably from the retail sector, or multisite environment
  • Strong knowledge of Employment Law, Industrial Relations legislation and FWA to be able to support managers effectively and in a timely manner whilst limiting the use of external support
  • Extremely high attention to detail and be able to work with others with such expectations
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to coach and support line managers
  • Experience in developing and delivering framework, in line with HR best practice
