The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Human Resources Manager who will support the Head of Human Resources and provide authoritative and responsive HR services to achieve the NGV’s strategic and business objectives.

You will consult with and provide high-level advice to managers and staff on a range of employee relations issues including recruitment and performance management.  Other key responsibilities include:
  • Managing Human Resources staff by aligning the team with the organisational values and goals through effective people management and modelling, including clearly defining role expectations, monitoring performance, providing timely and constructive feedback and facilitating employee development.
  • Developing, reviewing and implementing a range of HR and people management policies and procedures to grow the capacity of managers to effectively support, develop and manage their staff.
  • Contributing to the development of training and professional development programs for staff.
  • Participating in the development of HR strategies that are aligned with, and contribute to organisational strategy, such as workforce and succession planning and change management projects, when required.
To be successful you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources combined with sound knowledge and experience in a broad range of human resource management functions with an understanding of relevant legislation, policies and procedures.

You can maximise team effectiveness by selecting, developing and managing a high performing team, ensuring staff are actively deployed through effective workforce planning practices, building team commitment by demonstrating personal conviction and motivating others to deliver against goals.  You produce detailed project plans where objectives are clearly defined and action steps for achieving them are clearly specified, identifying more and less critical activities and operating accordingly, reviewing and adjusting as required.  You develop and implement systems and procedures to guide work and track progress as well as recognising barriers and finding effective ways to deal with them.
