Permanent job in Mount Isa for Human Resources Officer with reputable and expanding health organisation

Your new company
Your employer is a large health service provider with main clinics in Mount Isa and satellite operations spanning North West Queensland which service over 11,000 Indigenous persons. A broad range of primary health care professionals spanning General Practitioners, Nurses, Aboriginal health Specialists, Allied Health Practitioners, and Maternal & Child Health Clinicians are employed by the organisation to address the health needs of of the Aboriginal people residing in Mount Isa and the North West and Lower Gulf regions of Queensland. The organisation prides itself on employing 62% Indigenous staff and is currently experiencing a phase of exponential growth with the view to expand the scope and frequency of services provided.

Your new role
Reporting into the Human Resources Manager, you will be responsible for the provision of Human Resources services, systems processes and support to the rest of the HR team in the following areas:

  • HR Policies and Procedures support to ensure compliance and identify new requirements
  • Employment Services including recruitment, contracts negotiation and inductions
  • Performance Management including training needs analysis & supporting Mgrs on grievance matters
  • Workplace Health & Safety through your involvement on the H&S Committee
  • Employee Database & Records Maintenance to ensure updated employee compliance information
Sharing an office with your other HR Officer counterpart, your responsibilities as outlined above will be naturally divided and you will contribute effectively to this fast-paced and highly reactive open-door HR environment.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in the HR Officer role, you demonstrate a solid Human Resources Generalist skill set including knowledge of Awards, the Fair Work Act and HR best practices. You also exhibit a willingness to learn, a sense of ease in high volume workload environments and you can adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage your workload in accordance with set deadlines. Your use of technology and desktop applications including spreadsheets and databases to accomplish your work is critical to this role. Likewise, your effective communication style to internal & external stakeholders will make you a strong contender.

What you'll get in return
In exchange for your commitment to the organisation and to Mount Isa as a greater community, you will be remunerated with a competitive annual salary circa $65,000 p.a. + superannuation (commensurate on qualification & experience). Your relocation expenses (where applicable) will be covered and your team will offer you all the support you need to integrate into your new lifestyle in Mount Isa. You will work standard business hours Monday through Friday, however occasional overnight travel to remote areas via small charter plane will be required and all related expenses are fully covered by the employer. A fresh, new uniform has been recently rolled out by the organisation and relaxed dress codes are in affect on Fridays!
