State government department seeking experienced Senior HR Consultant for three month temporary job in Darwin.

Your new company
This state government department are experiencing an exceptionally busy period and require an experienced HR Consultant to assist the HR team over the coming three months.

Your new role
You will provide highly responsive strategic and operational Human Resource services to Managers and employees, ensuring compliance with NT Government employment framework. You will provide solutions-focused HR advisory services on a wide range of human resources matters (including terms and conditions of employment, disciplinary action, grievance management, performance management, termination, worker's compensation, and change management, while maintaining a strategic focus which facilitates the achievement of key agency outcome. You will assist in the development and implementation of effective management strategies, policies and tools to ensure the department operates within the relevant employment framework to achieve operational effectiveness and enhance HR capability within the organisation. You will identify solutions to key workforce risks and provide appropriate recommendations/advice accordingly. You will build and maintain effective collaborative working partnerships and strategic client relationships to align and address the people implications of business decisions.

What you'll need to succeed
Your prior experience in a similar role will see you succeed, as will;

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and present HR workshops on HRM practice.
  • Practical understanding of the HR principles, standards and reporting that effectively underpin the goals of the department and emerging human resource management practices with the ability to interpret and apply employment legislation, policies, trends and contemporary HRM developments.
  • Demonstrated performance in providing pragmatic advice with respect to management of change to align with organisational direction.
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining a high level of personal performance and flexibility, specifically the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise commitments and meet deadlines while maintaining quality standards.
  • Well-developed conflict management skills with the ability to remediate conflict in the workplace.
