Due to ongoing growth, HAYS have partnered with Carpentaria to appoint a permanent, full-time Senior Human Resources Advisor to facilitate all Human Resource functions, including workforce planning and development across all of Carpentaria's service areas.

Your new role
Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and working as part of the Corporate Services team, you will work closely with service area managers and staff to coordinate and facilitate daily HR functions, applying your expertise across recruitment and workforce development, Work Health & Safety, payroll and entitlements, EBAs and Awards, performance management, and staffing issues.

As an experienced HR generalist with a consultative leadership presence, you will:

  • Act as first point of contact for general internal and external HR queries and develop effective relationships to promote good employee relations across the organisation, escalating to the Chief Operations Officer as required
  • Provide sound HR advice to enable line managers to make informed decisions on various employee related issues such as performance management, code of conduct, entitlements and so on
  • Manage and monitor HR information for the employee life cycle
  • Review and update HR and WHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant employee legislative and regulatory requirements
  • Support the recruitment process by maintaining applicant registers, sourcing candidates, assisting in shortlisting, interviewing and reference checks
  • Coordinate and administer all HR/employee related documentation including employment offer letters, contracts and starter packs
  • Assist Managers with workforce development and planning
  • Support Service Area Coordinators and Managers with the coordination of training and professional development for staff
  • Develop a working knowledge of the Carpentaria Disability Services Inc. Employment Agreement 2012-2014 and relevant modern awards, and produce compliant rosters for support workers
  • Oversee the processing of timesheets for support workers, rostering and administering payroll for staff, working alongside external payroll provider and the Finance Team.
  • In collaboration with the WHS Committee, oversee Work Health and Safety, Safety Inductions, Investigations and Workers Compensation

What you'll need to succeed
You will have a Tertiary qualification in Human Resources and previous Human Resources experience ideally within the Not for Profit sector although not essential. You will have experience working in a cultural and linguistically diverse workplace, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and with maturity and discretion with all levels within the organisation.

Experience in the social, community or health care sector is desirable. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as good computer literacy. Exposure to HRIS systems is preferred.

You will have or will be willing to obtain, a Criminal History Check, Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), First Aid Certificate and NT driver's license.
