Your new company
The Metropolitan Fire and Emergency Services Board (MFB) is a world class emergency service employing over 2300 people and responding to 36,000 calls per year from Melbourne's four million residents and visitors. Your new role
You will use your expertise to provide technical workplace relations advice and solutions that assist managers to resolve disputes in a timely manner. Having regard to organisational objectives, you will proactively engage with managers on broader industrial and employee relations matters; educating on processes, best practice, policies and legislative requirements. You will work with managers and internal human resources professionals on performance related matters, change and the cultural direction of various areas of the business to shift from a reactive to a proactive approach. There will be a significant requirement for you to work closely with unions and stakeholders across the organisation to negotiate and resolve disputes and issues in their early stages in order to prevent protracted and unnecessary discord.


What you'll need to succeed
You will have an excellent understanding of contemporary workplace relations practices having worked on an array of different employee relations issues and have an ability to build productive working relationships with unions and stakeholders. You will be proactive, show excellent attention to detail and be a process driven person. It is important that you are empathetic yet resilient and adaptable with a forward thinking approach. You will show an excellent work ethic, with a strong background in case management and dispute resolution. Tertiary Qualifications in Industrial Relations, Human Resources, Labour Law and/or behavioural sciences (or equivalent experience) is a must as well as practical experience in interpreting awards and resolving disputes, ideally in a complex industrial environment is important.
