A leading government agency is seeking a skilled APS6 HR Generalist for a 6 month opportunity.

Your new role
You will be working with a dynamic government agency invested in effective strategy and policy across the Australian Public Service, committed to exceptional service delivery. As APS6 HR Generalist, you will be working directly with senior leadership to provide advice to employees within the agency regarding policy, pay and conditions. You will be working across a small team to provide advice and support on complex matters in relation to pay, leave, allowances, superannuation, entitlements and conditions of employment. Previous experience in this area is crucial to the success in this role.

What you'll need to succeed
The key duties of the positions include:

  • The management of sensitive and complex employee matters in relation to their pay, conditions, leave and entitlements, including individual flexibility agreements and SES determinations
  • Managing the internal payroll function in support of the external payroll provider.
  • Undertaking projects relating to pay and conditions, including managing performance and Enterprise Agreement increases, outcomes from organisational restructures and process improvement initiatives
  • Providing accurate advice on employment matters in line with relevant legislation and the relevant Enterprise Agreement.
  • Highly developed organisation skills including the ability to priorities and collaborate with others to achieve deadlines
  • Undertaking research and analysis of employment conditions
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to produce advice, policies and strategies that meet the needs of the agency.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills at all levels to work collaboratively, without exception, with peers and other employees to achieve sustainable and long-lasting outcomes
  • Experience using MS Excel and SAP payroll system or similar is highly desirable.


The position requires an experienced individual, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail. Qualifications Relevant HR qualifications, transferrable skills and experience will be highly regarded.

Security Clearance level required: Baseline (or ability to obtain and maintain).
