A leading government agency is seeking a HR Payroll Team Lead for a 12 month term. Extension likely.

Your new company
A leading government agency vested in ensuring financial support for all Australians is seeking an experienced APS6 HR Payroll Team Lead for a 12 month non ongoing opportunity with possible extension. Your branch will primarily involves partnering with business divisions to provide modern information technology, and ensure sustainable allocation and management of resources. This includes strategic and operational planning, performance reporting, client communications and engagement, and human resource management.

Your new role
As the new APS6 HR Payroll Team Lead, you will be taking the reigns to further grow, mentor and develop your team to deliver branch objectives. You will be expected to provide leadership and expertise in contemporary people services with an emphasis on payroll, human resources, business and process improvement, and improving customer service delivery in line with the future vision of the agency.

What you'll need to succeed
Lead, coach and develop the People Assist team to ensure delivery of quality integrated people support services including provision of advice to key stakeholders on:

  • Payroll operations;
  • Aurion proficiency
  • Remuneration and benefits;
  • Award and agreement interpretations and legislative requirements;
  • Identifying business and process improvement; and
  • Identifying client service improvements for the end user

Guide and build the team by:

  • Establishing clear work expectations, systems and processes;
  • Identifying capability needs;
  • Encouraging and supporting ongoing learning and development opportunities;
  • Providing regular feedback;
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance team performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change; and

Be the subject matter expert on people and payroll processes by:

  • Providing insight and advice to the team as a coach, to the broader People and Capability section, and key stakeholders;
  • Being responsible for key services such as delivering an on time and accurate payroll, executive salaries, and general human resources advice;
  • Providing reports which are managed and delivered in consultation with key stakeholders and in accordance with reporting frameworks and legislative obligations;
  • Undertaking analysis of queries to identify trends and use this information to streamline processes and educate managers and staff; and
  • Effectively and efficiently identify and manage the risks, controls and dependencies associated with people services.
  • Developing and continuously improving processes and process documentation (SOP's and WI's), systems and service delivery to users to create an efficient and enjoyable people experience for employees and managers.
