Seeking APS6 WH&S Advisor for ongoing position

Your new company
This well known agency is seeking an experienced WH&S Advisor to join their growing team. The Senior Work Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor supports the Assistant Director, WHS and Strategy in the day to day management of matters relating to WHS governance within the People Services section of the Corporate Services Branch, including participating in section planning for short term tasks and contributing to strategic planning for longer term initiatives.

Your new role
The role is responsible for undertaking work that is moderately complex to complex and possibly sensitive in nature, under limited direction, utilising expertise and knowledge within the area of WHS. Key position responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate effective wellbeing, diversity, workforce planning and other people management strategies in line with best practice initiatives, evidence-based decision making and with regard to any relevant legislative obligations.
  • Deliver high quality, timely and client focused advice, assistance and reporting on the people management governance functions across the agency.
  • Provide analysis on complex issues and contribute to the management, preparation and coordination of policy formulation and/or project management.

What you'll need to succeed Qualifications, Skills and Experience Mandatory

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of developing and implementing people management initiatives, polices and procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in successfully setting priorities and delivering quality results within stated timeframes.
  • Proven analytical abilities with the ability to propose and facilitate change and contribute to business improvement strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage staff while developing capabilities, encouraging career development and promoting professionalism.
  • Demonstrated personal integrity whilst achieving results within legislative and policy parameters.


  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, including Certificate IV in WHS or the ability to obtain one. Knowledge and experience working in a Human Resource environment.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to, quickly gain knowledge of Australian electoral law and practice.
