Your new company
Your new company works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable organisational capability. They provide employment initiatives and programs to achieve the department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander recruitment and other diversity groups retention target initiatives with the purpose of the department being modern and progressive with engaged, diverse, and capable people.

Your new role
As the EL1 Assistant Director you will be responsible for leading a team of Diversity Officers to design and implement effective strategies to attract, recruit, retain and advance Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees in the APS.

Your duties will include:

  • Working with the RAP Implementation Officer and Indigenous Liaison Officer to deliver on actions within the department's RAP
  • Continuing to contribute to the development and implementation of the department's action plan for the Commonwealth Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Workforce Strategy
  • Leading the implementation of best practice approaches to develop capabilities and increase operational effectiveness
  • Representing the department at relevant internal and external networks and forums
  • Other duties to support the achievement of the department's Diversity and Inclusion goals.

What you'll need to succeed
Along with your experience working in a culturally diverse workforce, you will have strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with peers nationally to ensure consistency of approach and delivery in a changing environment. You will have strong analytical and problem solving skills to form views, provide advice and make effective evidence based decision.

This role requires a high level of motivations, drive and initiative to deliver projects and undertake strong leadership.
