Innovative Federal Government Client looking for high performing WHS Specialist

Your new company
You will be joining a large Federal Government department who has a key focus on the social well-being of Australians by delivering high-quality services and payments for the community.

Your new role
As the WHS Assistant Director you will undertake a leadership role, with work being performed under the broad direction of senior staff. This will see you manage detailed projects or programs and develop and manage relationships with stakeholders. Other duties will involve:

  • provide detailed, specialist professional and technical advice, support and guidance to HR colleagues and staff within the agency on a range of work health and safety policy and interpretation issues.
  • Promote and encourage compliance with work health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines among the agency's staff to prevent or minimise the consequences of accidents and/or incidents
  • Develop, implement and evaluate work health and safety policy, guidelines and supporting documentation.
  • Oversee and prepare reports on work health and safety.
  • Research, analyse and apply problem solving skills to develop innovative solutions to meet clients requirements.
  • develop and maintain stakeholder relationships and networks including representing business area at meetings and other workplace events.

What you'll need to succeed
As this is a Federal department you will be required to be an Australian citizen.
Alongside this you will have knowledge and understanding of:

  • Frameworks, legislation, policies, procedures, information management, systems and tools relevant to the work area.
  • The agency's privacy, ethics, workplace health and safety and security protocols
  • Legislative and regulative requirements relating to public service, human resources and work health and safety
  • Occupational health and safety legislative frameworks, guidelines and standards, safety issues, hazards, risks and risk controls.
