Our Role

We are seeking a highly motivated HR generalist to join our Human Resources team.  Our team is a high performing and collaborative group of HR professionals that deliver exceptional service to our people, through the delivery of contemporary and best practice people services.

Supporting HopgoodGanim Lawyers and associated businesses of the HopgoodGanim Group, you will report to the Human Resources Director, supporting generalist HR coordination for the team and key stakeholders, together with taking responsibility for business partnering with a practice group portfolio.

With nearly 300 people across our offices in Brisbane and Perth, this role is an excellent opportunity to further develop your HR career while receiving coaching and guidance from more senior members of the HR team. 

Your Key Responsibilities

Our HR team provide a wide range of specialist services to the firm in often a fast paced and agile environment.  This role is varied and together with supporting cyclical and daily HR activities/initiatives, you will have responsibility for:

  • Business partnership role for a portfolio of practice groups. This means being the key HR contact for any employee/human resources matter, attending team meetings on a regular basis, providing regular support and building relationships with all Partners and staff.
  • Responsible for workforce and succession planning, performance management, probation progress, coordination of parental leave cover and return to work, exit interviews and secretarial allocations for all employees in responsible divisions.
  • Provide HR advice and support for Partners and employees, including policy guidance and interpretation, managing and resolving employee relations issues under the guidance of the Senior HR Business Partner or HR Director, when appropriate.
  • Prepare business cases for new roles in responsible divisions.
  • Attend interviews for recruitment in responsible divisions and where otherwise required across other divisions.
  • Draft HR documents including employment agreements, change of employment status letters and parental leave.
  • Maintaining and administrating employee files and other sensitive information to ensure compliance with legal requirements of HR record retention.
  • Work on special projects as required to deliver in line with the HR and firm strategic plans.
  • Manages annual practising certificate and membership renewals as well as QLS and LPBWA/Law Society of WA compliance for new starters.
  • Implementation and coordination of health & wellbeing activities and initiatives.

Our Successful Candidate

We are looking for someone who is driven, curious and has a passion for generalist HR. Ideally you will have at least three years’ experience in a similar role, with tertiary qualifications in HR or a related disciple. Experience in legal or professional services is an advantage.

You will be a team player and have the ability to collaborate with all levels of seniority. The role will require you to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple stakeholders and often competing priorities. It is essential that you are able to develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
