Experienced HR Advisor/Generalist with WHS exposure needed for temporary assignment with NFP in Rockhampton

Your new company

This immediate start temporary role is with a values based not for profit who have an established history of quality service delivery in Central Queensland. The leadership team are working to further improve services and this includes supporting the HR & WHS function. Due to increased workload, there is an opportunity in their Rockhampton office for a versatile HR professional to take up a temporary assignment.

Your new role

In this role you will take the lead in Human Resources & Workplace Health and Safety, ensuring that policies and procedures are adhered to.

You will provide support to the Corporate Services Manager and other key stakeholders in relation to HR and WHS needs in the organisation. This will include a combination of operational and strategic duties including:

  • Advise managers and stakeholders on policies & procedures & deliver training to new starters.
  • Review and update policies in response to organisational needs and goals
  • Monitor and report on compliance of HR processes including monthly compliance reporting
  • Manage and report on incidents and cases of non-compliance including identifying corrective and preventive actions and coordinate associated action plans.
  • Provide advice and support to various departments on HRM matters, as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in a similar HR Generalist role ideally gained in a community service or NFP environment
  • High Computer literacy in a variety of software packages.
  • Experience in WHS including return to work processes and incident investigation
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, organise and coordinate own workload and time management skills; as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willing and able to work within a cultural competent context and support the organisations mission, vision and values.
  • Effective communication skills - written, verbal, interpersonal, as well as submission and report-writing experience.
  • Have, or be able to acquire, a positive notice in the Working with Children Check (Blue Card),
  • Have or willing to undergo a Police Check.
