6 Month Contract (Parental Leave Cover) with Possible Extension

The Learning for Life Autism Centre Inc (Learning for Life) seeks a dedicated Human Resources Coordinator (6 Month Contract with possible extension, beginning in March 2021) to join our vibrant team based at our centre in Kew, Victoria. The role is Part Time, 22.5 hrs per week – to be worked between 8am - 6pm Monday – Friday, over 4 or 5 days per week.

Key responsibilities & duties of the role include:

  • Assisting in determining the staffing and volunteer requirements of the organisation
  • Managing end to end recruitment, including position description development, advertising, interviews, contracts, timetabling and onboarding/induction of staff and volunteers
  • Tracking and liaising with senior management on the progress and development of clinical staff to assist in determining career progression opportunities
  • Administering staff performance reviews and provide performance management guidance to managers, escalating formal matters to the senior management team
  • Award Compliance - periodic review of therapist cumulative hours to determine level and pay point rate changes
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of human resources and organisational policies and associated documentation
  • Assisting with staff queries, complaints and incidents, escalating matters if required to the relevant manager and/or Executive Officer

Selection Criteria

  • Human resources or relevant qualifications
  • Proven experience:
    • in the not for profit, disability or child services sector
    • as a human resources manager or coordinator and with end-to-end recruitment
    • with interpretation and application of industrial award agreements (noting that experience with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award will be looked upon favourably)
  • Excellent planning and time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail, problem solving skills and a creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • Tact and discretion in managing complaints and performance
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and deal with sensitive information
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Ms Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook, in particular)
