Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the General Manager Aviation Security, Melbourne Airport the Human Resources Manager is responsible for partnering with the site leadership and service support team in driving and implementing Human Resources activities and initiatives across the ISS Melbourne Airport contract.

This role will be responsible for providing efficient and effective advice, guidance and support across the areas of people, health, safety, environment and quality as well as regulatory compliance. As a hands on HR Generalist, you will provide operational guidance and support on day to day employee relations, recruitment and induction programs, Training development. 

To be successful in this role you will need to be agile and flexible, with the ability to navigate through a variety of stakeholder relationships within a fast paced environment. You must have roll up your sleeves attitude and be able to effectively build and maintain strong relationships with the ability to influence others to a considered course of action.

The Position:

  • Development and implementation of initiatives ensuring alignment with business strategy and operational requirements
  • Maintain and grow successful relationships across the entire business with key stakeholders, clients, customers and unions
  • Partner with the site leadership team in providing HR guidance across all aspects of the employee lifecycle
  • Provide support and advice on performance/disciplinary matters ensuring compliance and sound interpretation of relevant legislation, policies and procedures
  • Management of complex ER matters and union relations including enterprise bargaining negotiations
  • Drive employee engagement activities and construct ways to improve work relationships, build morale, increase productivity and enhance retention
  • Deliver training and implement Learning & Development strategies
  • Drive Health, Safety and Environment activities and ensure obligations are maintained
  • Demonstrate adaptability, transparency and effective communication surrounding matters related to the current economic climate

Minimum Criteria:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior HR generalist role within a large scale workforce
  • Tertiary qualification in HR required
  • Demonstrated success in delivering people advice and solutions that meet strategic and operational needs
  • Demonstrated experience managing Health, Safety, Environment and Quality activities
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining successful relationships with clients, customers, unions and key stakeholders
  • In depth knowledge of Employee Relations including interpretation of Awards/Enterprise Agreements and performance/disciplinary management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with experience collaborating within a complex organisation
  • Expertise in organisational development, operational planning and change management
  • Flexibility, resilience and willingness to adapt to and embrace change
  • Must be an enthusiastic & highly motivated individual with a passion for people experience
  • Must be open and approachable with ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
  • Experience within the Aviation Security industry preferred
  • Ability to obtain an ASIC
