The Role
The Project Manager Senior Officer Management (PM SOM) will work to Deputy Chief of Joint Capabilities, and with Director Senior Officer Management, to develop and mature an enterprise framework for Senior Officer succession planning. This role calls for an experienced HR and workforce practitioner who can apply knowledge and experience in the building of a contemporary approach to managing the development and selection of officers to fill senior Australian Defence Force appointments.

The PM SOM will both develop and support management of key systems, processes and decision support tools that comprise an enterprise approach to senior officer succession planning. This includes the Joint Position Management Board process; adoption of the enterprise succession planning prioritisation framework; development of a talent placement framework; and development of a longitudinal planning framework for key joint roles.

About our Team
Headquarters Joint Capability Group (JCG) provides high level support to the three star Group Head, the Chief of Joint Capabilities (CJC), by directing and coordinating Group operations across a range of functions. Headquarters JCG works closely with the Divisions and Commands within JCG, and also with other Groups and Services to contribute to Defence wide outcomes. JCG is increasing is capacity and capability to support Joint workforce management functions.

The Project Manager Senior Officer Management will work as an integral part of the Office of the Deputy Chief of Joint Capabilities within Headquarters JCG. This position will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across the JCG, in Defence People Group, and the Services.

The broader Headquarters team currently comprises of the Office of the Chief of Joint Capabilities; the Workforce and Culture team; the Ministerial team, the Governance team; and also has Media and Communications, Web management and Legal support staff.

Our Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience in the application of human resource talent management concepts. Experience in workforce planning is highly desirable and some exposure to project management and/or process development will be well regarded. A key feature of the role is handling highly sensitive personal information, and the candidate will have demonstrated the ability to apply protocols and controls in environments that demand protection of information. The candidate will have the ability to work independently without day to day direction, and be resourceful in engagement with relevant stakeholders across the Department of Defence.
