APS5/APS6 Equivalent | 6-Month Contract | Canberra
An opportunity exists for an experienced Work Health & Safety Project Officer to join a national organisation undergoing significant improvement and modernisation of its WHS framework, systems and processes.
This role will play a key part in supporting the implementation of WHS initiatives, coordinating framework improvements and assisting the organisation's transition from largely manual processes to more efficient and contemporary WHS systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of the organisation's WHS framework.
- Coordinate activities associated with the review and enhancement of WHS policies, procedures and governance.
- Assist with the implementation of new WHS systems and digital solutions.
- Support the development of incident reporting and management processes.
- Monitor WHS compliance activities across multiple sites nationally.
- Contribute to WHS reporting, data analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with stakeholders to promote a positive safety culture and consistent approach to WHS practices.
About You
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Work Health & Safety within a private sector environment.
- Experience supporting WHS projects, frameworks, systems implementation or process improvement initiatives.
- Knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and contemporary WHS practices.
- Experience working across geographically dispersed sites and stakeholder groups.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement and coordination skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while managing competing priorities.
Essential Requirements
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (minimum).
- Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying WHS legislation and frameworks.
- Experience with incident management and reporting systems.
- Strong administration, reporting and documentation skills.
Desirable
- Diploma or higher qualification in WHS, Safety Management or a related discipline.
- Experience implementing WHS software or safety management systems.
- Experience supporting organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Exposure to multi-site or national operations.
