An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior People Partner to join a high-profile NSW Government department. This is a senior business partnering position providing expert, practical advice across the full employee lifecycle in a complex and fast-paced environment.

Your new role

You will partner closely with senior executives, managers and employees, helping leaders navigate operational HR matters while supporting broader workforce priorities. The role provides exposure to employee relations, recruitment, organisational design, workplace investigations, policy improvement and workforce initiatives.

  • Build trusted relationships with senior executives and managers, providing expert HR advice and commercially practical solutions
  • Manage complex employee relations matters, including performance, grievances, disciplinary processes and workplace investigations
  • Provide advice on employment legislation, industrial instruments, conditions of employment and public-sector policies
  • Support recruitment strategies, establishment management, job design, role descriptions and role evaluation processes
  • Provide guidance on workers' compensation and return-to-work matters
  • Lead or contribute to HR projects, policy reviews and continuous-improvement initiatives
  • Work with internal teams and third-party providers to ensure services meet business requirements and agreed standards
  • Coach managers and employees on HR systems, procedures and effective people-management practices
  • Prepare high-quality reports, briefs, correspondence, contracts and executive advice

What you'll need to succeed

  • Strong generalist HR business partnering experience within a complex organisation
  • Demonstrated experience managing sensitive and complex employee relations matters
  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, industrial awards and enterprise agreements
  • Experience supporting senior executives and influencing a broad range of stakeholders
  • The ability to provide clear, considered and defensible HR advice
  • Strong written communication skills, including experience preparing briefs, reports and correspondence
  • The ability to manage changing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment
  • Tertiary qualifications in human resource management, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Previous NSW Government or broader public-sector HR experience will be highly regarded
