Your new company

This well-established and growing civil construction business is underpinned by a strong set of values, and has a people and community-focused culture. An exceptional opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Head of HR and IR.

Your new role

You will be responsible for providing strategic HR and IR support and ensuring best practice HR across the group of companies. This will include:

  • High level advice to executives and managers in relation to all HR matters, including P&C strategy, employment legislation and awards, ER, change management, workforce planning, performance management and organisational development
  • Manage the EBA negotiation process, identify any IR risks and manage IR issues and claims. This will be a key focus of the role in your first 6 months.
  • Manage professional development, coordinate or facilitate training and manage the graduate development program
  • Oversee a small team and provide strong leadership to staff

What you'll need to succeed

You will have extensive experience in a generalist HR Manager role within the construction or related industry. You will have demonstrated IR management experience including the application and interpretation of awards, acts and legislation and experience in negotiations and industrial relations management. A confident communicator, you will be able to influence and negotiate at all levels, have strong organisational skills and experience with relevant HRIS and ERP systems.

What you'll get in return

This is a senior level opportunity to work for a medium-sized organisation (circa 200+) with a strong pipeline of projects and a strong reputation. They have a welcoming, down-to-earth and supportive culture with strong levels of staff retention. You will work closely with the executive team and will receive a competitive salary and super, plus other benefits (circa 140 -165k + super, but flexibility around this depends on the experience you bring to the role). The role is based out of their head office in South West Brisbane with plenty of onsite parking. This is an on-site role and is not suited for candidates that are not able to commit to being primarily office-based. Hours are flexible and can work around family commitments.
